The History of Ameripawn, Inc.

Ameripawn was founded over 30 years ago by Greg Engstrom, the President and CEO. Greg Engstrom began his business strictly as a coin and fine jewelry store until he was convinced by a friend and advisor to make a debut into the pawning business. His business model has always incorporated a spirit of trust and everyone is considered as a second family. This emphasis allowed Engstrom’s Ameripawn to become quite popular and it began to expand. The first expansion store was opened in LaPorte. Ameripawn then expanded into Lake Station, Crown Point and Highland. However, the company closed some of its operations and today Ameripawn has three stores located in Valparaiso, Laporte, and Lake Station. It continues to operate under the principles that it was founded upon, namely the spirit of family and the great joy of serving others. 

The Ameripawn company has been helping families with short-term financial solutions for over 20 years. Our dedication to our customers and respect for one another has contributed to our success and growth. With this in mind, we are constantly seeing new innovative avenues for serving our customers.
